NATO Secretary General attends meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris

On Monday (13 July 2026), NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte attended a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris. The meeting was co-chaired by the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Sir Keir Starmer, together with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. They were joined by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Secretary General stressed that continued strong support for Ukraine was a top priority for NATO. At last week’s NATO Summit in Ankara, Allies reaffirmed their “unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity’’ in the Summit Declaration. They also pledged 70 billion euros in military equipment, assistance and training for Ukraine this year, and at least that in 2027. Referring to recent Russian attacks on Kyiv, Mr Rutte urged Allies and partners to continue their donations to strengthen Ukraine’s air and missile defence, as well as to further develop their cooperation with its defence industry. The Secretary General also attended a meeting of the Anti Ballistic Missile Coalition, with Presidents Zelenskyy and Macron. On Tuesday, the Secretary General will attend the Bastille Day parade celebrating France’s national day.
